Welcome!
My name is Elena and I am a fifteen year-old author. People always ask me how I came up with the idea for my middle grade book series about sibling rivalry. In 2015 my little brother Mason said he wished he were older. To make him feel better I started BBLS, which stands for Big Brother, Little Sister. BBLS was a game where we would switch ages and pretend to be each other. In 2018, when I was eleven years-old, I decided to make the adventures we went on in the game real and began writing Big Brother, Little Sister. Since I love music, reading, and have always been creative, my family was not surprised when I decided to become an author.
My new book is The Harpers’ Holiday Horror in which more sibling mischief takes place. A newly revised, kid-friendly and teacher-approved edition of Big Brother, Little Sister is now available, and I have plans for a third book in the BBLS series.

Author Bio
Elena Southworth first knew she wanted to be a writer when she was five years old and had just penned her first book. Elena likes to write from each character’s point of view, each in their own voice. She’s never at a loss for an interesting storyline or unforgettable characters that her readers can relate to. She hopes her stories become a place where readers can escape and find some great humor along the way. She’d like to inspire other children to write books as she has, and to feel that nothing is impossible.
When she isn’t writing, Elena enjoys playing piano and video games. While writing is her main hobby and tennis her favorite sport, most of her time—as you’d expect from a teenager—is spent on school and homework.
Elena’s writing has enabled her to contribute charitably by donating books to Children’s Hospital of Orange County at Mission Hospital, and Orangewood Children’s Home, along with having her book in many classrooms and school libraries. Elena has been invited as a “Meet the Author” guest at several school assemblies to share her love of writing and inspire young authors. She lives in Orange County, California with her mom, dad, little brother, and their puppy, Bo.
